Life Event: My Sister’s Wedding
The phone rang one evening in December
My sister was engaged, what a call to remember!
Maid of Honor I was named
All of our excitement couldn’t be tamed!
To follow were months of planning and stress
But all was worth it when she found the perfect dress.
Flowers, music, decorations galore
Bridal showers, food, limos, and so much more.
Everything planned by my sister and her fiancé too
For the ceremony when they would say “I do”.
The big day finally arrived
It was July 9, 2005.
I was happy for my big sis
But I cried a lot and was shocked at this.
Rolling down my cheeks were many tears
I couldn’t stop thinking of the memories over the years.
So close we’ve become, so much we’ve shared
From the tears, laughter, and support, she knows I’ve cared.
Mrs. Matt McKay she became that day
But I know she’s only a phone call away.
Although we’re separated by many miles
I know she sends me lots of smiles.
A good wife, mother, and sister to me
A woman like her, I strive to be.

That poem is great! I can't believe you could come up with all those rhymes and still make your story make sense! It seems like whenever I want to do a poem about something I can't come up with words that rhyme enough and still tell the story; I guess I can only make up poems about nothing. :) Very cute though!
I really like your poem! It is great!
(In a crying voice) I WISH I HAD A SISTER TO GO THROUGH A WEDDING WITH!!!
All I have are two brothers (that I love dearly, don't get me wrong). They wouldn't be caught dead helping me find my dress. I do think they would cry...at least a little bit...when I get married (if that will ever happen)!!! Great poem...I absolutely loved it!!!!
Wow! This is a great poem. I was really impressed with the way it rhymed and everything. It made me think back to my wedding, which was almost exactly a year after your sister's wedding. Thanks for sharing your talent of poetry!
I loved your poem. It really shows how close you and your sister truely are. Have a great weekend.
